James Allen Furniture was founded on decades of experience and a deep respect for craftsmanship. Its founder, Jim Baker, has spent more than 35 years in the home furnishings industry, beginning his career as a young man delivering furniture from store to home. While the work was physically demanding, it offered something far more valuable—daily connections with people and insight into the stories, homes, and lives that furniture becomes part of.
After ten years in delivery, Baker moved to the sales floor, where his career expanded to include every facet of retail furniture operations. Over the years, he gained firsthand experience in sales, customer service, furniture repair, and management, building a comprehensive understanding of both the product and the people it serves.
James Allen Furniture emerged from growing frustration with changes in the furniture industry. As prices increased and quality declined, Baker saw an opportunity to return to what mattered most: well-made, solid wood furniture offered at a fair and honest price. His vision was to create furniture he could stand behind—pieces built with care, craftsmanship, and durability—furniture customers would be proud to welcome into their homes.

My name is Jim Baker, and I have worked in the home furnishings industry for more than 35 years. I started as a young man delivering furniture from the store to customers’ homes. While the work itself was hard, I truly enjoyed meeting different people and hearing their individual stories. That experience helped me understand how important furniture is to the homes and lives it becomes part of. After ten years of delivering furniture, I transitioned to working on the sales floor. From there, I went on to experience every aspect of the retail furniture business—sales, customer service, repairs, and management. Each role gave me a deeper understanding of the industry and what customers expect when making such an important purchase. James Allen Furniture was born out of frustration with the direction furniture manufacturing had taken. Prices continued to rise while quality continued to decline. I wanted to offer something better—high-quality, solid wood furniture at an affordable price. Furniture I could be proud to sell, and that customers could be proud to own and display in their homes.
